Friends of Renal Oncology Group (FROG)

  • You have just been told that you have Kidney Cancer and your world has been turned upside down.
  • You may be confused and frightened by the prospect of this illness and all it may entail.
  • You probably have preconceived ideas of cancer from your own life experience.
  • You will have many unanswered questions but you don't know who or what to ask.

If this is you then please take heart, as you are not alone, for many of us know exactly how you are feeling right now. We are on the same journey and continue to live life to the full. Cancer has been relegated to something we live with but it does not rule our daily lives.

We meet on the first Monday of each month at 6.30 pm -8.00 pm, at the Maggie's Centre, on the Churchill Hospital site. The meetings are informal and provide the perfect opportunity to meet, chat and share information with other patients and supporters. We have interesting visiting speakers, and are keen to develop an active social side.

Although we are still learning the ropes it has proved to be a great success as a place to come and meet others in the same boat within a supportive environment. So if anyone is reading this, and lives within travelling distance of Oxford, and would like to come along, then you would be most welcome - just turn up when you feel like it. Please feel free to bring someone with you if you like.

We also have our own section of the Oxford Cancer Information website.

We hope you will give us a try and look forward to meeting you.
