Our thanks to everyone who has raised money for UCARE - we could not have done it without you.
Waitrose community matters charity scheme
We are grateful to Waitrose and their customers at Ampthill and Abingdon branches for selecting and supporting UCARE as part of their monthly community matters charity scheme - the two branches raised £740.
Golf and a Pig Roast
UCARE was Gary Cosby's chosen charity for his annual Charity Golf Day at the Three Locks Golf Club on 26th September 2008.
Players, their partners and families joined Gary for a pig roast, charity auction and entertainment.
Legends and Betfred raise £3,500 for UCARE
The Betfred League of Legends staged its finale at Purfleet and in so doing brought the total amount it raised for UCARE to £3,500 thanks to the generous participation of celebrities such as Craig Phillips and Duncan Norvell, the Legends themselves and Betfred.
Much to the delight and amusement of a vocally appreciative full house at Purfleet, the team of John Lowe and Dave Whitcombe took on the duo of Eric Bristow and Bobby George.
John Lowe, who was disappointed not to get to the finals, looked to have a point to prove and he played some stunning darts to ensure that his team emphatically won the match against the Legends from London.
“UCARE has my full support and I would like to thank Betfred and all those who helped to raise this sizable sum for a charity which is working to bring hope to cancer sufferers”, comments John Lowe.

UCARE supporters back the Otmoor team
The UCARE running team joined forces with Clive Stone to complete the Otmoor challenge on 7th June 2008.
UCARE entered for the first time with a team of 8 runners prepared to run the half-marathon distance, including two UCARE trustees, David Cranston and Andrew Protheroe. Our community volunteer, Clive Stone, entered the 5 mile walk together with his wife, Jan. Both teams completed the course, which was difficult in places after all the rain, and raised a magnificent sum of over £2,200.
Climbing every mountain
"It was a tough challenge but a great experience," Adrian Ilari reflected after completing the Three Peaks Challenge with 7 of his friends. All the team completed the challenge successfully with Adrian being the last person to cross the line 23 hours and 58 minutes after starting at Ben Nevis.
As well as achieving their aim of climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours, the team also beat their fundraising target. They raised over £2,000 in sponsorship for UCARE which was a fantastic response to the team's hard work and determination.
