Rhia's charity horse ride
13-year old Rhia Biscoe's father died just two days before Christmas last year but has shown amazing courage and determination to organise a riding event which she hopes will raise money for UCARE, Urology Cancer Research and Education. See her story in the Milton Keynes Citizen Newspaper and in the Brackley and Towcester Advertiser on Friday 21 August 2009 (pdf file).
Rhia was also interviewed on Monday 3rd August, by Joe Pignatiello on his breakfast show for BBC Northampton.

In October's Saga Magazine, Rachel Carlyle highlights the need to raise the profile of urological cancers. Dr Andrew Protheroe, UCARE Trustee, explains that urological cancers mainly occur in men - testicular cancer in younger men and prostate cancer in older men - but that there is a lack of funding to support research into urological cancers. The Saga article outlines how charities such as UCARE are working to change people's awareness and knowledge of urological cancers whilst at the same time raising money for this vital research. It is now time to do more to fight cancers that affect not only men but which have a devastating impact on their partners, children and families:
