Helping us to continue our work during the pandemic

Our thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund and the Government for a grant to help us in our work.
Since the start of the Covid19 pandemic, we have had to cancel all our fundraising and community activities. For a charity whose bread and butter is all about raising awareness and being in the community this is hard.
We keep hearing that cancer doesn't stop for COVID 19, and it doesn't. We must continue to support people who experience symptoms but who may be frightened in coming forward because of the challenges that health and cancer care has been experiencing and have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
This grant will help us to adapt to find new opportunities to give information and offer potential solutions, consider priorities and new approaches going forward. We must continue with our message in the community for vulnerable groups; talk about healthy lifestyle changes; weight and exercise and early diagnosis being key to cancer treatments.
UCARE are now a member of Cancer52

Cancer52 represents nearly 100 predominantly small patient support group cancer charities united by their vision of seeing a better future for everyone affected by the rare and less common cancers, which account for more than half of all cancer deaths in the UK.
Its aim is to promote improved diagnosis, treatment and support for those affected by rare and less common cancers. Cancer52 works on matters that impact on the rare and less common cancer community – defined as all cancers outside the ‘big four’ of breast, prostate, lung and bowel.
Current data shows that 47% of cancers diagnosed are rare andless common cancers, yet they account for 55% of cancer deaths
Testicular Cancer Awareness Month (1-30 April 2020)

Every year over 2,400 men in the UK are diagnosed with testicular cancer.
This April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. Along with our good friends in the Testicular Cancer Network. we will continue to raise awareness and provide support as best we can through these unprecedented times.

This invitation has given us the opportunity to work with other charities and advocates that are doing amazing work to bring life-saving awareness, support and research to young men in their communities.
We come together to share best-practise and medical information; offering a common voice to our common goal – to save lives through early detection and to improve the lives of those affected by testicular cancer.
